Denise Yankou studied education and communications/marketing at Simmons College in Boston. Over the past 15 years, she has held various positions in the two areas she’s most passionate about: childcare and non-profit development. However, her childcare experience dates back even further. In 2016, Denise made a major life decision to leave the nonprofit sector and become a full-time nanny. Before committing to this career path, Denise worked at the Lemelson-MIT Program in Cambridge, Columbia University School of Nursing, Lutheran NYU Medical Center, and Alternet.org. Her experience with children includes dozens of hours in classrooms as an education student, as well as positions at Jumpstart (an AmeriCorps program); Horizons for Homeless Children; Badger Sports Club in Larchmont, N.Y.; and New York Cares. In her free time, Denise volunteers with the Planned Parenthood of New York City Activist Council, where she serves as a clinic escort and on the Sex Ed and Political Action Group committees. She also provided volunteer SAT tutoring for the first time this past year. She is an ardent feminist and lives in Upper Manhattan with her beloved cat, Henri.
