Sheryl Cooksley is the founder of Family Tree Doula Services, a postpartum doula agency, as well as, West Coast Baby Care, a nanny placement agency, located in Portland, Oregon. In 2017, Sheryl redirected her career after a string of personal tragedies and answered her life’s true calling to serve new parents and infants through postpartum doula care. It was out of this desire to see growing families receive the support and encouragement they desperately needed that Family Tree Doula Services was born. Family Tree provides support locally, and with the help of our traveling postpartum doula/NCS hybrids, support families throughout the United States and world.
Sheryl believes the key to a healthy environment for doulas to flourish is built on a foundation of mutual-respect, mentorship, and encouragement. As a certified postpartum doula and trained newborn care specialist, Sheryl knows firsthand from her years of experience what it’s like to work with new parents. She is generous with her hard-earned wisdom, and her passion to see her team and growing families thrive is the driving force behind everything she does. She understands the vulnerability associated with new parenthood and she sees the invitation as a true privilege.
The NCS Market – Time for a Reality Check
Join members of the NCSA to talk about the current market for Newborn Care Specialists. What is the demand for this type of care? What do current pay rates look like? What part does geography, experience, certifications and training play in getting jobs and the rate the NCS is paid. What about 24/7 or just daytime work? This session is particularly suited for the nannies considering transitioning to NCS, new NCS and any NCS struggling to make a living in today’s market.
